This outstanding 1989 film clip captures the excitement and up-close look at the very-first pairing up of organist JON HAMMOND'S combo with studio drummer BERNARD PURDIE playing the Lee Morgan classic "SIDEWINDER" including solo by Bernard. Bernard's 2 children were in the house that night along with musicians including HUGH MASAKELA at MIKELL'S on Columbus & W.97th St. which was the traditional "musicians hang" in those days. Jon broke out his mint 1959 Hammond B3 for the occasion, enjoy! *More Info: www.HammondCast.com Musicians: JON HAMMOND-B3 organ, ALEX FOSTER-sax, BARRY FINNERTY-gtr., CHUGGY CARTER-perc., BERNARD PURDIE-drums *Note: Jon Hammond is Host of CBS Radio daily program "Jon Hammond's Afternoon Slide" M-F 3PM PST KYCY/KYOU 1550 AM, 26th year TV Show and touring world wide.

HammondCast 36 KYOU Radio

HammondCast 36 Listen *here: HammondCast 36 HammondCast 36 Jon Hammond in New York City just back from Germany music tour and 20th year at Musikmesse Frankfurt trade show...digging deep in to the archives to present a special show put together by Jon in 1993 in Frankfurt Hausen-BROTFABRIK (the old Bread Factory) Jon Hammond presenting French Pianist FRANCOISE PUJOL first time in Germany along with RICHARD BONA on bass from Cameroon & Paris, now living in NY and FRANCIS LASSOUS - drums/batterie. A crazy story about how Jon convinced Bonsedorfer Piano Company to bring their most expensive concert-grand piano for Francoise to play there. The musicians got in to an argument at sound check and Jon almost had to play the famous piano, but thankfully it worked out and the tension made for some great playing! Never before heard (I wonder why?!) Also a new track from Hungarian super-star saxophonist TONY LAKATOS' brand-new album "Gypsy Colours" on the SKIP RECORDS label. Tony's original composition "Mr. Fried" played and recorded with his brothers in Budapest Hungary. Thank you Tony and Lakatos Family! Jon's trio live at Bruno's in San Francisco featuring drummer RONNIE SMITH Jr. from Oakland CA and dedicated to United Airlines: "No Excess Baggage Blues" from Jon Hammond's new album "NDR SESSIONS Projekt" for KYOU/KYCY 1550 AM, home of the Oakland A's! Versierte Fingerflitzer / Experienced fingers Flitzer

Versierte Fingerflitzer / Experienced fingers Flitzer Kieler Nachtrichten KN-online: Jon Hammond Show bot im Blauen Engel leidenschaftlichen Hammond-Sound Henrik Drüner | kn | 27.03.2009 20:27 Uhr

www. Wenn du das nächste Mal in New York bist, komm vorbei!“ Kiel - It seems that the invitation to have earnest. Before the concert Jon Hammond puts the reviewer baffled his business card in hand. "Hi, I'm Jon, without h. If you have the next time you're in New York, come over!" Chicago, Paris, Frankfurt-Bornheim, Hamburg-St.Pauli, New York. The fingers are the singers“. For the globetrotter only stations are places on his life. Chicago, Paris, Frankfurt-Bornheim, Hamburg-St.Pauli, New York. The many people and musicians who know the organist, are the basis on which his subsequent references, anecdotes and stories song builds. And Jon knows them all. The concert at the Blue Angel trades under The Jon Hammond Show. Why, feel the viewers already after the first announcement. Jon Hammond is a showman, a Dampfplauderer, trained in decades as a radio and TV presenter. On top is the 55-year-old is an excellent organist at the Hammond organ. With the instrumental jazz revue he goes to the footsteps of Miles Davis, The Crusaders and Jimmy Smith, always acting under the slogan: "The fingers are the singers." In the game's Jon Hammond absolutely in his music and his passion for the good old Hammond sound. At the age of 18 he purchased his first Hammond B3 and the band toured with Hades in the act for Tower of Power or Michael Bloomfield. Only in 1991, he is a digital and easier to XB-2. A veritable connoisseur: he weighs his head constantly from one side to another, winding up as Stevie Wonder on his fingers. The left hand is largely replaced the role a bass player, in addition to the various sounds, which he manually adjusted. Not to replace the musicians, the show Jon Hammond on the scene complete. Heinz Lichius drums as in each of its formations to the very best, the 26-year-old Sebastian Gille perplexed Gabriel instead of Coburger on saxophone with subtle, though powerful solos and guitarist Joe Berger is like a string Hasardeur. Even if he is not the former Who guitarist, as it is the Organizer's Info weismachen wants - at least he played with Who bassist John Entwistle and arranged for his band in the studio mix. A main feature of the instrumental songs: catchy melody and strong grooves. Jon Hammond handles the sad encounter with a girl in Paris or the Czech King Salsa as well as rooting the night in the hotel garbage. In addition to jazz elements is his style deeply rooted in rock, funk, East Bay Grease, Bossa Nova, Soul and Rhythm & Blues. Sometimes the sound shallow pieces, most notably Duke Ellington Satin Doll or Moanin 'by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, as on a cruise ship, but the early protagonists break the rudder around, they joke with Shuffle and Radio welding on the other hand hold.
