El Cerrito CA -- Jon Hammond enjoyed the blockbuster hit movie "It's Complicated" starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin with his Mom and Girlfriend Jennifer at the newly refurbished Rialto Cinemas Cerrito Theater at 10070 San Pablo Avenue in El Cerrito last night.
Charles gave Jon a rundown on the complicated techniques he uses to do specialized archival screening implementing some of the latest state of art equipment used in providing captioning and descriptive narration for blind and hearing impaired audience members incorporating multiple formats of Film & Video with the latest DBX Audio.
The Cerrito has been lovingly restored and maintained in all of it's 1937 glory with the famous Art Deco blue glass mirrors etched with the goddess Diana, hunting with her bow in hand in the oval jewel box lobby. Deco chandeliers and sconces grace the ceiling and walls. *Notice Charles' custom t-shirt with Gazelles as depicted in the Cerrito's unique art.
Comfortable chairs have been provided along with new theatre seating and many with tables or counter for enjoying the excellent menu of food drinks and snacks, beer and wine will be coming soon!

If you have the next time you’re in New York, come over!”Für den Weltenbummler sind Orte nur Stationen auf seinem Lebensweg. Chicago, Paris, Frankfurt-Bornheim, Hamburg-St.Pauli, New York. Die vielen Menschen und Musiker, die der Organist kennenlernt, bilden die Grundlage, auf der er seine späteren Referenzen, Anekdoten und Songgeschichten aufbaut. Und Jon kennt sie fast alle.Das Konzert im Blauen Engel firmiert unter The Jon Hammond Show. Warum, spüren die Zuschauer bereits nach der ersten Ansage. First-time ever Midi Accordion controlling Hammond Organ in March of 1992, played with bass lines on the buttons by JON HAMMOND Blues Band at JAZZKELLER Frankfurt. Jon Hammond managed to get sponsorship from Philip Morris to fly BARRY FINNERTY in from New York for the show which was the very first of Jon's annual "Jon Hammond's Musikmesse Warm Up Party" with all-star band. On the band with Jon also was DERRICK JAMES alto sax, ALAIN NAU drums from Forbach, UWE GEHRING aka WESLEY G guitar from Kaiserslautern. JOE BERGER Mixed this recording live under the piano with a guy blowing cigar smoke in his face (smoking was legal then). *special thanks: SENNHEISER Microphones, Hammond Suzuki, EUGEN HAHN Jazzkeller. Note: Guitarist HERB ELLIS was sitting next to bandstand in front during the entire first set. Jon Hammond plays Excelsior Accordions & Hammond Organs exclusively.

Fair Standards for NYC Music Clubs
June 16th, 2009
While larger and more financially stable clubs and cabaret spaces offer reasonable compensation to performing musicians, there are a host of smaller venues that do not. The abuse ranges from notorious pay-to-play venues to those that charge for the use of sound equipment or require musicians to guarantee an audience.
What can be done? What are “fair standards” for the treatment of musicians? Give us your feedback as we work to establish a “fair standards code” for these music venues.

Campaign Picks Up Speed
The Justice for Jazz Artists campaign continues to pick up speed. We now have over 270 petitioners! This number is up from 144 on May 1.
We are currently seeking the endorsements of elected officials and religious leaders, even as we build our petition of jazz artists and musicians who work in other areas—particularly on Broadway and in the concert field.

He worked with a number of major figures from the free and experimental scene, including Anthony Braxton, Dewey Redman, Sam Rivers, Archie Shepp, the Art Ensemble of Chicago and David Murray, as well as more mainstream players, including Hampton Hawes, Bobby Hutcherson, Maynard Ferguson, Yusef Lateef, Atilla Zoller and Johnny Griffin. Jon Hammond managed to get sponsorship from Philip Morris to fly BARRY FINNERTY in from New York for the show which was the very first of Jon's annual "Jon Hammond's Musikmesse Warm Up Party" with all-star band. On the band with Jon also was DERRICK JAMES alto sax, ALAIN NAU drums from Forbach, UWE GEHRING aka WESLEY G guitar from Kaiserslautern. JOE BERGER Mixed this recording live under the piano with a guy blowing cigar smoke in his face (smoking was legal then). *special thanks: SENNHEISER Microphones, Hammond Suzuki, EUGEN HAHN Jazzkeller.
